Setting up a tablet-based POS.
A tablet can make a compact counter, but screen size is only the beginning. Plan the browser, network, printer and payment workflow together.
Preview the screen before buying equipment
Use the sample till’s iPad, Android tablet and phone presets to see the relationship between product tiles and the basket. The preview shows layout dimensions; it does not certify a specific physical device. Try your intended browser and touch controls on the actual tablet.
Plan a dependable network
Browser-based checkout and provider-verified QR payments depend on connectivity. Check coverage at the actual counter, including the printer and terminal location. Have a business procedure for a connection failure; do not assume that a cached screen means payment processing is available offline.
Keep the device in its store context
An authorised manager registers a device to the correct store and till. Give it a recognisable name, then check catalogue pricing and staff access. A shared tablet should use cashier access for normal sales, rather than remaining in an owner’s administration account.
Match the receipt workflow
Check your supported printer model and network setup, receipt width and business identity. NOX POS supports configured Epson network/ePOS printing, including receipt layouts for 80 mm and 58 mm paper. Actual model and browser acceptance should be checked before rollout. Cash drawers need their own authorised hardware setup.
Check the payment connection separately
The tablet, terminal and payment provider each have requirements. Confirm whether you are using native Tyro, verified hosted QR checkout or manual terminal confirmation. Arrange controlled hardware acceptance through the merchant’s process; a demonstration basket cannot verify a live terminal.
Practise opening and closing
Check staff PIN sign-in, opening float, a sample product selection and the end-of-day reconciliation screens. Review screen rotation and the tablet’s mounting and charging arrangements. Record a short setup checklist so replacement equipment can be configured consistently.
Keep exploring.
